Participants will develop the following competencies through practical exercises and real-world examples:

• Understanding the historical development of data protection laws in Switzerland and the EU.
• Knowing the fundamentals (jurisdictions, data categories, principles, rights and obligations, data export abroad, etc.) of the key data protection laws for Swiss companies (nDSG/DSGVO).
• Learning the basics for practically implementing necessary measures to achieve data protection compliance within your organization.
• Knowing the necessary actions and reporting obligations required in the event of a data protection breach.
• Understanding the possible sanctions and legal procedures that can result from data protection violations.

The course covers the following topics in a hands-on, interactive format:

• Evolution and current state of data protection laws (nDSG/DSGVO)
• Navigating legal texts (nDSG, DSV, DSGVO)
• Fundamentals of data protection (principles, legal bases, rights, obligations, data export regulations, data processing agreements, role of data protection officers, EDÖB)
• Data breach response procedures and reporting obligations
• Legal enforcement mechanisms, including fines, criminal and civil proceedings
• Organizational requirements for compliance (processes, obligations, contracts, information duties)

The course is action-oriented and practical, featuring a variety of exercises. Short theoretical sessions are reinforced with interactive activities using Digio AG’s course platform.

Upon successful completion, each participant and their company will receive a certificate detailing the competencies gained, course content, and duration.

This beginner-friendly course requires only basic computer skills (e.g., using Office programs and email) for an optimal learning experience. It is designed for end-users without prior cyber security knowledge.

The course is conducted in German, and participants are required to bring their own laptops.
